Where the rest of the places are
The government service is the tip of the iceberg. Most large DTS employers — banks, telecoms, consultancies, tech firms, public sector — recruit on their own careers sites, opening applications between September and January for the following September's intake, and many close early once they have enough applicants. The practical search strategy: decide the employers you'd actually want, check their early-careers pages directly, and treat the government service as the safety net that catches smaller employers. How to actually find degree apprenticeships and the application timeline on the main site walk through this properly.
Also real: pay varies more than people expect. The adverts on the government service skew towards smaller employers and lower starting salaries; the large schemes that recruit on their own sites typically start higher and review pay through the programme. Compare offers on the whole package — salary now, progression, and what the employer pays people who stay after the four years.
